Stupid Cereal Bags and other Design Atrocities

As I was opening my Raisin Bran bag this morning . . . no, cancel that. As I was TRYING to open my Raisin Bran bag this morning, I couldn't do it. I tried and tried to tear the plastic, to pull it apart at the seam, to split the seam and create an opening in the top. No luck. Finally, with enough heroic effort by my arthritic fingers, I succeeded in tearing the bag nearly in half, sending raisin all over my kitchen. This blog is my opportunity to comment on idiotic design, such as cereal bags that can't be opened without a machete. And I'm going to name names (Kellogg's). Here's another one, just to get us started: My brand new Subaru Outback had a dead battery the other morning. And why? Because I had inadvertently left the rear dome light on. Since the dome lights don't go off right away, I had no idea it would stay on and run down the battery. Subaru: This is the 21st century! Can't you write a little bit of code that asks, "Hm.
